Our History

Qatar Swimming Association (QSA) established in February 06, 1993 with the  mission of developing the sports of Aquatics within the State of Qatar  and contribute to the country’s sports development and well being.

Since then and under the patronage of Qatar Olympic Committee, QSA affiliated with the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA, March 1993), the  Arab Swimming Federation (ASF, June 1993) and the Asian Swimming  Federation (AASF, October 1993).

Competitions & events organized at National and International level include the following:

National level

  • Annual National Championships in swimming, diving and water polo since March 1993
  • Annual courses for Technical Officials & coaches since 2000
  • Lifeguard certification courses since 2002
  • Masters Swimming Championships took place in 1997

 

International level

  • Annual Gulf Countries Competition in swimming, diving and water polo
  • 3rd West Asian Games in swimming & diving in December 2005
  • 15th Asian Games in swimming synchronized swimming, diving and water polo (men only) in collaboration with DAGOC in 2006
  • 1st Asian Open Water Championships took place in 2002
  • FINA Diving World Series in 2009
  • Doha 2011 Arab Games, Swimming competition
