Diving champion ,Mohamed Shwaiter, won a silver medal for platform 10 meters in the closing of the 9th Asian Age Group Championship held in Tashkent. This medal raised Qatar’s total medals to three; gold, silver and bronze. The championship witnessed fierce competitions between the participating countries which all have great history in diving.
Mohamed Shwaiter expressed his happiness for this victory which resulted from the provided support .
Mr. Khaleel Al-Jabir, president of Qatar Swimming Association, praised this great achievement which he considered a new start for the diving champions to develop skills, and to be at the top to participate in the international championships. Mr. Al-Jabir added that they worked to qualify the sportsmen for the coming competitions and achievements , and they were ready to compete. He wished for more achievements in swimming or diving to uphold Qatar’s name high.
Mr. Talal Al Darwish , Secretary General of the Qatar Swimming Association, expressed his pride of the victory which he attributed to the effort of both technical and administrative bodies and the divers too. He praised the plan of the association to develop and enhance the sportsmen’s skills, and to the support of the Qatar Olympic Committee. He wished for more success in the forthcoming competitions. He dedicated the victory to the Qatari people.
Mr. Abdul Aziz Al-Janahi, Head of Diving Body, said that this achievement was due to the excessive trainings during the past period in which Shwaiter , and Belghith had been prepared to compete in this major Championship. He thanked the Qatar Swimming Association and the Qatar Olympic Committee for their support provided to the diving body.
