In an interview with beIN Sports on Wednesday September 6, 2017, Mr. Khaleel Al-Jabir, president of Qatar Swimming Association, and member of FINA Board, talked about the importance of swimming as it occupies a great place of the Olympic program, and has many fans. The FINA planned to make it at the top.
Mr. Al-Jabir talked about FINA/airweave Swimming World Championships hosted by Doha during 4-5 October, 2017 with participation of 20 of the best world swimmers. He added that Qatar is ready for hosting the championship in Hamad Aquatic Complex.
He also said that the swimming association has unique swimmers that are being prepared for the Olympic Games, Tokyo 2020 and The FINA World Championships – Doha, 2023, as well as their current participation in Asian Age Group Championship held in Tashkent. He assured the role played by the Olympic Committee to support the champions through the Elite Fund, under the supervision of the Olympic Committee,.
Mr. Khaleel Al-Jabir talked about the most important upcoming projects especially those with FINA. He said that Qatar Swimming Association has a plan to host great championships not only in swimming, but also diving, open water and other important championships.
